This Bridal headdress from the Minangkabau peoples of Sumatra, Indonesia, circa 1960s. This headdress is composed of embossed gilt metal pieces masterfully joined together. Many components on springs or dangling off wires, so the headdress moves and shimmers with the wearer. The design is traditional for the Minangkabau, with a pair of birds surrounded by a dense array of florets surmounted by a radiating halo-like structure. Worn by Minangkabau brides for traditional weddings. Mounted on a custom metal stand.
